Website Redesign Project Lead & Copywriter

Video Campaign Producer & Director

  • Create seamless experience between website and registration system

As Project Lead, I was responsible for really representing the brand and team as well as their users in the design process. After discovery sessions, I created both a site map as well as wireframe options to simplify things for the design company that was chosen through the club’s bid process. This also ensured all of Skate Oakville’s key priorities in terms of communication needs and design desires were covered off. Once the design/build began, I acted as the main contact for the Designer and handled all levels of the approval process. In tandem, I worked on all the site copy to ensure it was informative, enticing and error free while also focusing on SEO to help increase the club’s organic search results. Along the way, I also provided insight and suggestions for content planning across both the website and social media.

  • The new up-to-date design and site architecture were well received by the team, their Board of Directors, other stakeholders and clients
  • The main menu items were reworked for clarity and have helped improve organic search results
  • Calls to action for registration are now more readily accessible from all pages allowing people to proceed easily as soon as they decide they want to enroll in a program
  • The team now owns their Google business listing and can update hours and contact info as necessary (also good for SEO)
  • Both social media feeds and their news items have prominent real estate right on their homepage making it easy for members to find time sensitive updates
  • Overall traffic to the site is up
  • Organic SEO ranking is up
  • Program registration is up
  • Provide content for website, for use within the venue and for any advertising opportunities that arise
  • Deliver strong visual representations of each program for prospective members (regardless of language spoken)

As Producer and Director I worked with the team to figure out the main priorities and then proposed concepts for multiple videos. I also brought necessary freelancers on board for the project…in this case a Director of Photography and an Editor along with a still Photographer so we could capitalize on the opportunity to build a library of great pictures for the website. For the duration of the project I directed all creative and managed all approvals with the team.

  • Multiple videos were delivered and have been incorporated throughout the website and content plans
  • The videos were broadcast on the facility jumbotron during a figure skating competition hosted by the club
  • The videos have thousands of views across multiple platforms
